Mercury is about to zip through Virgo! Blink and you’ll miss it. Mercury enters Virgo on September 2, 2025, and will stay in the sign until September 19, 2025. After an extended period in Leo due to Mercury Retrograde, we are charging full speed and in eclipse season no less! When Mercury is in Virgo, it notices everything. Mercury in Virgo fact checks in real time. It already has the Wikipedia page open two minutes after pressing play on a movie. It sees the patterns. These seventeen days to come with Mercury in its home sign of Virgo, sharpens our vision and precision, but even though we’re given more flow, there is some redirection being asked of our Mercurial powers.
Mercury in Virgo is immediately met with a square from Uranus in Gemini. Gemini is also a Mercurial sign, so we’re being challenged when it comes to the realms of life dealing with connection, writing, communication, and our mental processes. Squares require problem-solving. While Virgo is a natural problem solver, we’re being asked: are we taking on too much of other people’s messes? Is our mental space clouded and crowded? It’s time to get real with our priorities and deadlines. I know we’re all “busy” but so much of business is self-inflicted busy work out of fear of doing the big thing. Where can you unburden yourself? September is distraction-clearing month.
This Virgo Mercury coincides with the first eclipse of the season, happening on September 7th. Doubling down on the message of the moment, amplified surrender. We have a Mercury Cazimi on September 13, when the Sun and Mercury come together as close as they can, consider us firing on all cylinders. The mind and spirit are aligned, and with the South Node co-present, this is the reminder that we are not crazy for wanting to make big changes. You’re not insane for wanting more, because it’s what you deserve. Virgo Mercury is here to teach us that we don’t have to sacrifice in order to feel worthy.
Towards the end of the transit we start to feel the impending air energy and get a preview of the time ahead. Mercury opposes Saturn + Neptune, trines Pluto and Uranus, which opens up the idea we’ll still explore once Mercury moves into Libra, in that we are always learning how to own our mistakes (because it’s hard if not damn near impossible.) It’s ok to be wrong. We’re allowed to be wrong.
When I studied at the Portland School of Astrology I had a teacher named Rhea Wolf who would often say the mantra I still say so much to this day: learn like you know nothing. A beginner’s mindset, no matter how many years you’ve been in your expertise, is your friend. A humble attitude with an open mind is the secret sauce to this time. Virgos are often right, they’re prepared, they did the homework…and then the dissatisfaction kicks in. Right now, it’s time to pivot from knowing it all to releasing control. We’re all being asked to be open to surprises. Allow the world to point you in the right direction. While Virgo Mercury is talented in both gut intuition and logical thinking, the gut will be the strongest guide for now and the remainder of 2025.
